Portugal Retail Brand Report
A monthly, independent reading of the online supermarket shelf in Portugal: how much of each category is retailer own brand, which brands are shown at a discount and with which label, and the unit-price gap between own brand and manufacturer brands.
What each edition measures
Three measures for every category, on the shop's full online catalogue.
- Own-brand share. The share of products in each category that are the retailer's own brand. Latest edition: 22.2% overall, 58.2% in Casa e Jardim.
- Discount labels, two kinds kept apart. The PVPR label is a discount against the manufacturer's recommended retail price; a direct promotion is a cut on the shop's own price. Latest edition: 29.8% of manufacturer-brand products carry a PVPR label (68.0% in Limpeza); direct promotions are on 5.0% of manufacturer-brand and 14.5% of own-brand products.
- Unit-price gap. Own brand's median unit price as a share of manufacturer brands', compared within the same third-level category and the same unit. Latest edition: 56.0% across 209 comparable groups.

Coverage and limits
Read these before you subscribe. They are the reasons the report might not fit your use.
- Retailers in the report today: Continente online. Another retailer joins an edition only after its full catalogue has been collected and checked; no dates are promised.
- A snapshot of the website on one date each month: web prices, not store prices, and not sales.
- Own brand means brands that a public source identifies as the retailer's. Look-alike brands without a source are listed in the report and not counted.
- Collected from public pages, from the shop's own sitemap and within robots.txt. HLP Data is independent of every retailer in the report.
- Table and file column names are in English; category names stay as the shop writes them.
